Wedding Season: Part Two of Five

This year Dave and I are going to five weddings, not including our own.  Unfortunately, we were invited to two others, but cannot attend due to other conflicts.

April 9th: DJ & Lauren in San Antonio, TX
May 21st: Sara & Scott in Indianapolis, IN
June 4th: Matt & Thi in Newport, RI
July 30th: Stephanie & Andrew in Portland, OR
October 29th: Rachel & John in Pittsfield, VT

This weekend was the wedding of my little cousin, Sara Cooper, to a wonderful man, Scott Bohan.  Unfortunately, Dave couldn't attend, as he had a bachelor party in Las Vegas (oh, so sad for him!).  Erin and I were each other's dates, as Russell was a groomsman in another wedding the same day.  Sara and Scottie were married at the Indiana State Capitol Building, which was an amazingly beautiful venue.  Their reception was at a fun location across the street, with great views of downtown Indianapolis and an upbeat atmosphere.  While it was a whirlwind trip, it was so much fun to see all my family: parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents... you get the picture.  We had a lot of fun, and (obviously) managed to sneak in a little Nordstrom time on Saturday afternoon!  Congrats Sara and Scottie!

Below are a few pictures from our first wedding of the season back in April... DJ and Lauren.  DJ and I played tennis together at Trinity, and we started as freshmen together from day 1, even living in adjacent dorms.  DJ was one of my closest friends throughout college, someone I bonded with easily from the first time we met.  Lauren, his amazing wife, also went to Trinity, so I've known her for several years as well.  They make a beautiful couple and are perfect for each other!  Their wedding and reception were held at the gorgeous Westin La Cantera on the north side of San Antonio, and Dave and I had a GREAT time!  Congratulations DJ and La!

"mom away from my mom" during my time at Trinity!)

Now we have a two week break and then we're back at it with Matt Gunter's wedding, where Dave is a groomsman!

The Celebration of 26 Years of Dave!

Today is Dave's 26th birthday!  Wheee!!  Last night we had a small celebration, which included yummy Olive Garden, incredible cupcakes from Coccadots, and some fun presents.  He got a brand new Garmin from his parents, a year long "Beer of the Month" club from my parents, a KitchenAid mixer ice cream maker attachment (I swear, HE was the one who wanted it!!) from my sister and brother-in-law, and a pizza stone from me (again, promise, this was his idea!).  I think all in all, it was a wonderful celebration.  And what better way to spend his birthday weekend than going to VEGAS for a bachelor party!!  So while we might have had a quiet day and evening celebrating Dave's birthday, I have no doubt he'll celebrate it properly this weekend :)

(blowing out the candles with Ella's help!)

I am so thankful to have such a wonderful man in my life.  I truly am blessed to have found Dave in my life almost 10 years ago, and that we decided to take a risk with our friendship and begin dating almost 5 years ago.  I can't wait for the day to call him my husband... and time is sneaking up on us!  About 4 months until we leave for Nashville and 19 weeks until the big day!

Where Does the Time Go?

Man, oh man, I can't believe it's already mid-May!  This whole "time flies" concept is really proving itself to be true, and I'm not sure I can keep up!  From mid-March to mid-April, I was out of town five weekends in a row, which was utterly exhausting.  Since then though, I've been here the last three weekends (and will also be this weekend), and yet, I still have no more time than when I was travelling every weekend!

If you didn't know, Dave will be doing an internship all summer in Maryland (sad face :( ).  While I'm so sad he won't be around, I think I'll be able to keep plenty busy on my own.  Between working out 5 days/week and making plans to see each other about every other weekend, I know the summer will fly right by.  The weekends I'm not visiting Dave, I'm mostly out of town for other events!  I looked at the calendar and will be in Albany for all of three weekends this entire summer, and I'm sure those will be spent working on wedding details.  Once he gets back in mid-August, however, it will only be about a month until we leave for the WEDDING!  Yeeeeee!!  It's coming up so quickly!

Thank You Cards

Well, we received the first of our stationary items yesterday... our thank you cards!  Kwik Kopy Printing in Cool Springs is doing all of our wedding stationary, and the thank you cards look great.  I'm excited to see the rest of the pieces!  So last night and this morning I spent a few hours and wrote out my first batch of thank you cards from the wedding shower my aunts threw me about 3 weeks ago.  I know the thank yous are late, but I kept holding out for the cards to come in!

And now Dave and I are off to scan RPI for his research.  The day is absolutely GORGEOUS and we want to spend some of it outside!  We decided to not head over to the Tulip Festival this year because we'd be tempted to eat all of the fried carnival-like food, and given that we're on a strict diet until October 1st, being around all that delicious, yet terrible for you, food seemed like about the worst idea ever!

I Can Haz Blog?

So.  I've never blogged before.  Ever.  Which is surprising, given my generation seems to be all about it.  However, after helping create a new website for the place Dave and I work out, my interest in creating and maintaining a blog began to grow.  Plus, what better way to become a better writer than to write on a consistent basis?

The other main reason I wanted to start this blog is that I thought it would also be a fantastic way for our friends and family (the few that would care enough to read this at least!) to stay up to date on everything going on in our life, from being nearly-weds, to newlyweds, to new residents of Maryland, and whatever the future may hold after that.

So.  I will try to post every so often with new developments about what's going on in our lives.  The most recent exciting news is that my bridesmaid dresses were delivered (finally!) to all my girls!  And I must say, what beautiful bridesmaids I have.  I could've picked a potato sack and they would have rocked them out, but the dresses look absolutely gorgeous on them, and they are all going to look stunning come October 1st.  I'm also excited it's Friday, and that we have a relaxing weekend ahead... perhaps we'll check out the Tulip Festival if the weather is nice!
